Bellaire house burns, firefighter suffers minor injuries

BELLAIRE -- A firefighter was hospitalized after Bellaire house caught fire Monday morning with crews from Bellaire, Neffs and OR&W Fire District in Shadyside responding to the scene.
Bellaire Fire Chief Tim Bell said that the call came in around 7:27 a.m. Monday. He said the fire started upstairs in a family home located at 922 32nd Street. Bell said no residents were injured.
"We did have one firefighter overexert himself, and he's in the hospital now getting checked out," Bell said around noon Monday.
Bell added that the firefighter's injuries were minor.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation. Bell said it appeared to be an electrical fire and that a representative of the Ohio State Fire Marshal's Office will be at the site today for the final stages of the investigation.
"The fire marshal will make the final call," he said.
Bell said the upstairs of the house is a total loss. The home belongs to a family of four.
"We were able to recover some of their stuff, and the Red Cross has been contacted," Bell said.
