Runners place during the Cabell Midland’s 5,000-meter course

ONA, W.Va. -- Several Northern Panhandle runners fared well during Saturday's W.Va. state cross country meet at Cabell Midland's 5,000-meter course.

BOYS

Class A

Magnolia's Landen Davis, who won the Region I race, finished as state runner up in a time of 16-minutes, 31.01-seconds. Wheeling Central's Aidan Scott, who was trying for a three-peat, was fourth in 16:41.21. Also earning first-team all-state honors was Tyler Consolidated's Amos Kimble who crossed the line in seventh with a time of 16:57.18.

Second-team honors went to Tyler Consolidated's Travis Moore (13th, 17:28.92) and Magnolia's Shiv Patel (17th, 17:50.93).

The Blue Eagles finished seventh in the team race with 154 points.

Class AAA

Wheeling Park's Seth Franke ran a 16:42.28 to finish 12th and earn second-team honors.

The Patriots were sixth with 164 points.

GIRLS

Class AA

Oak Glen's Hannah Kliner was also a state runner up as she ran a 19:52.75. The Golden Bears placed sixth with 128 points.

Ohio Regionals

PICKERINGTON - Three runners from OVAC schools advanced to the Ohio state meet next weekend at Fortress Obetz and Memorial Park just outside of Columbus.

BOYS

Division II

St. Clairsville's Ben Shields continued his fine season with a fourth-place finish with a clocking of 15:55.13 on the North High School 5,000-meter course.

GIRLS

Division III

Two individuals - River's Mara Beard and Shadyside's Chloe Meholovitch - qualified for the state meet with seventh and ninth place finishes, respectively. Beard ran a 19:31.21 and Meholovitch a 19:34.81. The Pilots' other regional qualifier, Mallory Brake, ran a 21:28.8 to finish 51st out of 153 competitors.
