CADIZ -- Election Day is Nov. 7 and voter registration deadlines and early voting are right around the corner.
According to local boards of elections, the last day to register to vote in Ohio is Tuesday, and early voting will begin on Wednesday.
On the ballot in Harrison County, there will be a four-way mayoral race in the village of Cadiz. Incumbent John Migliore is running against Raymond Jones and former council members Terry Capers and Daniel Eugene Ossman.
Two seats for Jewett Village Council are in play. Cheyenne Locko will be running along with write-ins Brian Scott Jurosko and Richard L. Meneely.
In German Township, two candidates are running for one trustee seat. Neal Dawson is running against Charles Hayes.
In Green Township, incumbent Richard Allen Atkins is running against Frankie Dulkoski for trustee.
Incumbent Teresa Yvonne Love is running against Wendy D. Haga for Monroe Township fiscal officer.
Also in Monroe Township, incumbent Ralph T. Ferguson is running against Steven O. Sanders for trustee.
Two candidates are running for trustee in North Township. Incumbent Paul Albert Trushell is running against Gary A. Myer.
Kristia Diane Boruta and incumbent Jessica Renee Brown are vying for fiscal officer in Shortcreek Township.
In Stock Township, two candidates are running for trustee. Incumbent Collin Thomas Albaugh is running against Richard Allan Hugh.
Incumbent Donna Jean Carpenter is facing Margene Marie Angelozzi in a race for Washington Township fiscal officer.
Two candidates are vying for a four-year term as Washington Township trustee. The candidates running are Kris Alan Dickey and Kevin A. Green.
Two more trustee positions are open in Washington Township with three candidates running. The term will end on Dec. 31, 2025. The candidates are Adam Dunlap, Benjamin Thomas Hodkinson and Nathan E. Peters.
Two seats are in play for the Jefferson County Educational Service Center board with three candidates running. Toni Jean Dondzila, David Haught and Kim Leonard are vying for the seats.
Three candidates are also contesting for two seats on the Harrison Hills City School District Board of Education. Vickie L. Coffland is running against incumbents Edward Henry Banks III and Tracy Marie Mattern.
Harrison County will have three property tax issues for residents to vote on.
The first issue will be a 0.75-mill property tax replacement. According to the board of elections, the tax will provide "police protection including the payment of salaries to police personnel and for providing and maintaining equipment."
The second county property tax question will be 1 mill to provide for the "operation of community programs and services authorized by county boards of developmental disabilities and for the acquisition, construction, renovation, financing, maintenance and operation of developmental disabilities facilities," according to the board of elections.
The third county property tax on the ballot is 0.5 mills and will support Children Services.
Bowerston village has a property tax renewal on the ballot of 1.5 mills.
The village of Hopedale also has a property tax renewal on the ballot of 1.6 mills.
Jewett will have two property tax renewals for voters to consider, each listed at 1 mill.
The village of New Athens has two property tax renewals for residents to vote on. The first one is 1 mill and would be used for current expenses. The second renewal would be 2 mills and would fund the police department.
Scio has three property tax renewals on the ballot and one property tax addition. The first renewal is 0.88 mills to fund park expenses. The second renewal is 2 mills, and the third is 0.88 mills. These would cover current expenses. The property tax addition on the ballot would fund ambulance and EMS service at 2.25 mills.
Residents of Cadiz Township will also vote on three property tax renewals. The first is 0.44 mills and would cover the maintenance of Cadiz Union Cemetery. The second is 1 mill and would also fund cemetery maintenance. The third renewal is 1 mill and would maintain the fire department.
Franklin Township has two issues on the ballot regarding the sale of alcohol at Tappan Lakeside LLC. The first issue will apply to general sales, and the second issue will address selling alcohol on Sundays.
Three property tax renewals are also on the ballot for Franklin Township. Two are for 0.5 mills and would fund cemetery maintenance and operations. The third renewal is 1 mill and would help purchase new fire equipment and upgrade current fire equipment.
Monroe Township is asking for an additional 1.5-mill property tax for fire and EMS services.
Moorefield Township will have two property tax renewals on the ballot, one for cemetery maintenance at 0.4 mills and one for fire protection at 2 mills.
North Township will have an additional property tax on the ballot of 2.25 mills for ambulance and emergency medical services.
Residents of Nottingham Township will vote on a property tax renewal of 1 mill to fund fire protection.
Rumley Township will have a property tax renewal of 2 mills for purchasing fire equipment.
Two property tax renewals will also be on the ballot for Shortcreek Township, one for fire protection for 1 mill and one for ambulance and emergency medical services for 2.25 mills.
Stock Township will also have two property tax renewals. A 1-mill tax for fire equipment and a 1-mill tax for road and maintenance will be on the ballot.
Edison Local School District will have a 5.9-mill property tax renewal on the ballot for current expenses. The district overlaps with Jefferson and Harrison counties.
All property taxes listed above are for five years.
Voters in the Union Local School District, which extends from Belmont into Harrison County, will vote on a proposal to issue bonds for "constructing renovations, additions and improvements to the High School/Middle School, Elementary School and Administrative Office, constructing an athletic complex with field house and maintenance building, together with technology and site improvements, furniture, equipment, lighting, utilities, landscape, parking and all necessary accessories, in the principal amount of $62,820,000, to be repaid annually over a maximum period of 37 years," according to the board of elections.
Buckeye Joint Vocational School District, which overlaps with Tuscarawas and Harrison counties, will have a property tax renewal on the ballot of 1 mill to improve the school building facilities.
Jefferson County Joint Vocational School District, which overlaps with Jefferson, Belmont, Carroll and Harrison counties, will have a property tax renewal of 0.5 mills for 10 years for current expenses.
Voters in Shortcreek Fire District, which lies in Jefferson and Harrison counties, will have an additional property tax on the ballot of 2.75 mills to "provide and maintain mechanical resuscitators, for the payment of permanent, part-time, or emergency medical service, administrative, or communications personnel to operate the same, for the purchase of ambulance equipment, for the provision of ambulance, paramedic, or other emergency medical services operated by the fire department or firefighting company, or for the payment of other related costs," according to the board of elections.
