Bellaire Christmas parade slated for Saturday
BELLAIRE — The Bellaire Volunteer Fire Department is hosting its annual Christmas parade at 6:30 p.m. Saturday. Lineup will start at 5 p.m. at the corner of 34th Street and Noble Street.
Fire Chief II Jason Bell said that anyone interested in entering the parade can contact him at 740-338-7597.
All participating groups or businesses must fill out a registration form. Forms can be filled out in advance or on the night of the parade at the registration booth. Forms can be dropped off at the rear of the Bellaire Fire Department in the mailbox. Bell said that the mail is checked daily.
The entry fee for the parade is $20 and all 501(c)(3) nonprofits and schools are exempt from the fee. Businesses can also sponsor the event for $25. Checks can be written out to the Bellaire Volunteer Fire Department.
“Let’s get as many floats, bands, dance groups or any other thing you want to bring entered. The more the merrier. To the citizens, line the streets. Come out and watch the parade. We do all this for the community, so please pack the streets,” Bell said.
Following the parade, Santa will be at Belmont Savings Bank for photos and a meet and greet. Cookies and hot chocolate will also be available. Everyone is welcome.
Before the parade, Unique Treats by Jacquie at 3050 Belmont St. will host a free event with local author Joseph Woodley. The event will start at 4:30 p.m.
Woodley will be signing copies of his new children’s rhyming picture book, “The Great Christmas Heist.” Hardcover and paperback versions will be available for purchase at the event.
The event will feature free hot chocolate, and Jacquie’s treats will be available for purchase. Book purchasers will automatically be entered in a drawing for a $75 gift card for Unique Treats by Jacquie.
“(There’s) lots in store to kick off the holiday spirit thanks to Bellaire Volunteer Fire Department, Belmont Savings Bank and Unique Treats,” Bell said.
