I-70 crash still under investigation

MORRISTOWN -- The driver of a gray Chevy Sonic who crashed Saturday on Interstate 70 near Morristown is being treated at a Canton, Ohio, hospital, said Ohio State Highway Patrol Trooper Tyler Burd.
Burd said Sunday he did not yet know the extent of the man's injuries, but noted he was transported by medical helicopter to Altman Hospital in Canton, Ohio.
Burd said the driver, a resident of Wheeling, was traveling on I-70 eastbound when he allegedly crossed the median and struck an embankment on the westbound side of the highway.
The vehicle did not roll and the driver was wearing a seatbelt, according to Burd.
The vehicle sustained front-end damage, reports indicate.
No other vehicles were involved in the afternoon accident.
"We're not sure of the extent of his injuries," Burd said, adding he planned to call the man today or Tuesday to get more information for the investigation.
"The interstate was shut down for a while; the helicopter landed on the interstate," he said, adding the company that transported the man was STAT MedEvac.
Burd said the driver had not yet been cited by the OSP for the accident that occurred about 3:10 p.m. near milepost 206.
