FLUSHING -- The Ohio State Highway Patrol confirmed that Sunni Rae Scott of Bellaire, manager of Sunni Rae's Buy Sell Trade in Flushing, died earlier this week after sustaining severe injuries in a head-on crash last Tuesday, Nov. 14.
The crash reportedly occurred on Ohio Route 331.
According to updates from family on social media, Scott died Tuesday. She had undergone surgery since being hospitalized with severe injuries including organ damage and internal bleeding. She was transported to WVU Medicine Wheeling Hospital for emergency surgery, then again by medical helicopter to WVU Medicine's J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, West Virginia.
Lt. Brian McFarland of the highway patrol commented.
"The crash is still under investigation until it's complete," he said. "It was a two-car crash and the person at fault will be charged after reviewing the investigation with the Belmont County Prosecutor's office."
He said the investigation is coming together.
"The crash is very clear-cut. It was left-of-center and speed was a factor in the crash," McFarland said.
He added that authorities do not believe drugs were a factor.
"There's no witnesses to the actual crash, but we retained some statements from people that observed the driving of the at-fault vehicle prior to the crash and we're still trying to compile that information."
