BARNESVILLE — General Federation of Women’s Clubs/The Junior Women’s Club of Barnesville reminds area residents that when you support local business, you’re supporting a dream.

The club encourages everyone to shop at Blossom Florist, located downtown Barnesville at 165 E. Main Street. The owner, Jita (Wildman) Clift started her dream of loving flowers in high school while working at Smith Orchid Crest and then at Town and Country Flowers.

Clift continued to develop her skills at Ponzani’s Florist for the next 15 years.

In 2000, entered into a partnership with friend Becky Wehr until early this year when she became the sole proprietor of Blossom.

Clift has been a part of the federated sisterhood since 1974.

Growing up with a dedicated women’s club mother, she realized how much community service was dear and near to her mother’s heart. Her classmates’ mothers were also club members.

It was a very natural thing for her and close friends to follow in their mothers’ footsteps and join the club.

Her mother was club president in 1968 and Clift followed her lead in 1980, when she was installed as club president.

When asked why she continues to support the club as an associate member, her response was simple — “sentimental reasons, the bonds of lifelong friendships have been dear to my heart.”

Blossom is family-owned, hometown business. Clift puts her heart and personal touch in every flower order. She enjoys making a personal connection with her customers and even helps those first time DYI customers with a little hands-on demonstration.

You won’t find her online or on a webpage. She loves the person-to-person connection to ensure that every order is unique and special to that customer’s needs.
