Several new businesses and restaurants made their home in the Ohio Valley this year, including pizza parlors, gift shops and salons.
On The Rocks Grill & Tavern opened its doors in January inside the former Annie K's restaurant at 787 E. Main St., Barnesville.
Owner Scott Schnegg purchased the restaurant on Nov. 18, 2022, and reopened under the new name just days later on Nov. 21, 2022. Schnegg, a Barnesville native, said he wanted to create something that the entire community could enjoy.
On May 31, Buffalo Creek Country opened in the Ohio Valley Mall. The shop specializes in rustic, country, and primitive home decor. Buffalo Creek Country offers a variety of handcrafted wall hangings, candles, yard flags, pictures and other decor items.
Buffalo Creek Country is located in the Dunham Sports concourse next to Lids and across from Finish Line.
Buffalo Creek Country previously had locations in Bellaire and Wheeling's Center Market.
The Bethesda Pizza Parlor was back in business on Sept. 25 following a few months of closure due to floor problems at its previous location on Main Street. The new location is at the former Bethesda Market & Carryout building at 226 Maple Ave.
On Oct. 17, a new salon called Color Me Madd opened at 39985 National Road, Bethesda. The salon is completely handicap accessible and has a sensory room for children and adults with disabilities.
The Olive Branch Christian Gifts held a soft opening at the Ohio Valley Mall on Nov. 1 and had its grand opening on Nov. 4. The store is located behind the customer service kiosk.
The store is co-owned by three officials at Thoburn United Methodist Church in St. Clairsville: Dave St. Aubin, senior pastor; Mike Perkins, lay servant; and Bill Wendell, associate pastor.
Cocollana's Style opened at the Ohio Valley Mall on Nov. 20 and is located near the main entrance. The store offers women's and kid's matching clothing. Owner Joyce Colon said that the store was previously located on Main Street in St. Clairsville.
All American Family Restaurant, located at 3293 Belmont St., Bellaire -- formerly the site of Sakura Family Restaurant and Rigas' Family Restaurant - held its soft opening for family and friends on Nov. 30. The new restaurant opened its doors to the public on Dec.1.
Melissa Freeman Starkey, the owner of All American Family Restaurant, also owns Sonny Boy Family Restaurant in Bridgeport and Frosty Treat in Powhatan Point.
Creno's Pizza, a pizzeria chain based in Ohio, opened a new Bridgeport location on Dec. 4. The pizza parlor is located at 869 National Road in Bridgeport, the former location of the Wiener Hut.
The business is headquartered in Zanesville and has 25 other locations in Ohio, according to its website.
On Dec. 7, Harley Steed Photography hosted its ribbon-cutting ceremony. The new photography studio is located at 125 E. Main St., Barnesville. The grand opening took place on Dec. 9.
