SHADYSIDE -- The Shadyside Chamber of Commerce is hosting its Village Shopping Day on Saturday. The event will promote local businesses and help residents save money while shopping for the holidays.
Many Shadyside businesses will have sales and longer hours on Saturday. A map with all of the participating businesses can be picked up at Bre's Hair with Flair or the Shadyside Flower Shop.
Anyone who visits all of the businesses on the map and has an employee sign their map will have a chance to win one of several gift cards. Participants should drop off their completed map at the same business that they receive it.
Bre's Hair with Flair will have storewide sales including sales on gift cards, and the salon will also offer free holiday-themed face paintings and temporary tattoos and slap bracelets. The shop will also have a mailbox set up so that residents can drop off their letters to Santa.
Shadyside Flower Shop will have a wine-tasting event and holiday decorations for sale. Shadyside author Joe Woodley will read his children's rhyming book "The Great Christmas Heist" from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at the shop. Signed copies of the book will be available for purchase before and after the reading.
Various vendors will sell crafts and goodies at Shadyside American Legion Post 521 from 10 a.m. -3 p.m. The Legion post will also have free cookie decorating at the same time.
According to the chamber's Facebook page, Boyd's Crafts will have handmade crafts for sale along with free ornament-making for kids.
The Shadyside Masonic Lodge will be hosting breakfast with Santa from 9-11 a.m.
Shoppers can also stop by WesBanco for free hot chocolate. DeFelice Pizza will also be offering pizza slices and pepperoni rolls for $2 each and fountain drinks for $1 on Saturday.
Winners of the house decorating will be announced at 1 p.m. on the Shadyside Chamber of Commerce Facebook page. All announcements will also be live-streamed on the chamber page.
