THE BELMONT County Enrichment Fund at the Community Foundation for the Ohio Valley is accepting grant applications until Feb. 2.
The BCEF aims to fund meaningful projects that improve the quality of life for Belmont County residents.
The BCEF was created in 2013 by a group of landowners in Belmont County and was known at the time as the Smith-Goshen Rice Enrichment Fund.
Landowners in those townships who benefitted from leasing mineral rights to the former Rice Energy wanted to share their good fortune by giving back to the community.
Grants are made from the BCEF to 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations, schools, fire/police departments and other similarly exempt organizations based in or serving Belmont County.
The BCEF aims to enrich the community through funding meaningful projects that improve the quality of life for Belmont County residents.
The Belmont County Enrichment Fund will not fund fundraising events, scholarships, animal welfare or projects that have already been completed.
Last year the program distributed just over $51,000 total and gave back to many organizations including the Bridgeport Volunteer Fire Department, Tri-County Help Center, Calvary Presbyterian Church, Union Local Schools and Bethesda Senior Center.
Applications will be vetted by CFOV before being forwarded to the Belmont County Enrichment Fund advisory committee for determination. Awards are to be determined and distributed in March with a grant reception to follow.
