Belmont College expanding to Martins Ferry

ST. CLAIRSVILLE — Belmont College announced Wednesday that it is expanding existing higher education opportunities in Belmont County with a new location in Martins Ferry.

Classes will be offered in the Kendall Behavioral Solutions building, located at 611 Walnut St., Martins Ferry beginning May 28 with the start of the Summer 2024 Semester. Ample parking and classroom space will be available for students.

“The college has been working with Project Forward, a revitalization group in Martins Ferry, to find classroom space in the area for quite some time,” college President Paul F. Gasparro said. “I believe that the community will benefit from this new centralized location, and with such strong support from residents, I see no reason why higher education won’t continue to grow in the area.”

The Martins Ferry location will offer general courses based on students’ needs and interests.

“We want to make it easy for individuals to access the classes that they need in order to complete their degree and/or certificate,” said Heather Davis, vice president of Academic Affairs. “With this new location, we are working to accomplish a higher degree of educational attainment for the residents of the Ohio Valley, which will lead to an increase in family income and a better quality of life.”

She continued, “It is our hope that this new Martins Ferry location will also assist some of the Eastern Gateway Community College students who had their degree plans interrupted. Our hearts go out to them, and we want to do all we can to help them transition seamlessly and complete their programs with as little disruption as possible.”
