LANSING — Firefighters from several local departments responded to a house fire at 68287 Chermont Road in Lansing on Wednesday night.

Wolfhurst Assistant Fire Chief Kevin Roberts said that the call for help came in at about 8:40 p.m. Wednesday.

“Initially, the call was put out for a smoke odor investigation in that area. I was on my way home and observed a structure fire at that location,” Roberts noted.

He said that the house was unoccupied at the time and no injuries resulted from the incident.

Roberts said the Brookside and Bridgeport fire departments reported to the scene to battle the blaze along with firefighters from Wolfhurst.

Roberts said the interior of the house was deemed a total loss with minimal damage to the exterior.

Roberts said the he was not sure how long it took, but the fire took some time to extinguish. He explained that the home had dropped ceilings, and the fire was located in the ceiling making it difficult for firefighters to locate.

Roberts said that the Ohio State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause of the fire.
