BARNESVILLE — Denise McBurney, Ohio Hills Health Center’s certified application counselor, was named the 2023 Ohio Senior Health Insurance Information Program Rookie of the Year.

The designation comes from the Ohio Department of Insurance, Senior Health Insurance Information Program. The Ohio Department of Insurance provides Medicare beneficiaries with free, objective health insurance information and one-on-one counseling. This is McBurney’s second year as an OSHIIP counselor.

“We are extremely proud of Denise for being named OSHIIP Rookie of the Year. Denise is a dedicated employee, and she cares about the consumers she works with,” Ohio Hills CEO Jeff Britton said. “This is a wonderful achievement.”

OSHIIP educates consumers at no charge about Medicare, Medicare prescription drug coverage (Part D), Medicare Advantage options, Medicare supplement insurance, long-term care insurance and other health insurance matters.

OSHIIP recognized McBurney for her successful completion of certified training, technical expertise and professional demeanor.

In her role at OHHC as a certified application counselor, McBurney is available to meet with individuals and family members regarding Medicare, Medicaid and the Marketplace, and she can assist with the application process. There is no charge for her services, and everyone is welcome.

McBurney’s office is located at OHHC-Barnesville, and consumers do not need to be patients at OHHC to utilize this service. However, appointments are required. Call 740-425-5147 to schedule an appointment with McBurney.
