BELLAIRE — A 19-year-old man is dead in the wake of a shooting in Bellaire late Saturday.

Belmont County Prosecutor Kevin Flanagan said an individual was arrested for homicide Saturday night. The arrest was made by the Bellaire Police Department.

Flanagan also confirmed that the man in custody is 21-year-old Brian Alexis Melott of Bellaire.

“He is being held without bond until further order of the court,” Flanagan wrote in a text message. “We anticipate a court proceeding Monday.”

Flanagan also confirmed that the deceased victim is David Allen, 19, also of Bellaire. The shooting occurred at the Francis Wallace Apartments, located on 41st Street.

Melott is listed on the Belmont County Jail roster. It states that he is charged with murder and awaiting arraignment in the county’s Eastern Division Court.
