Woman hospitalized, man jailed after stabbing

WOODSFIELD — A man was jailed and a woman hospitalized Tuesday in the wake of a stabbing incident.

A Monroe County sheriff’s deputy responded to a report of a man sitting in the middle of Plainview Road with a weed trimmer and a gas can, according to information shared in the department’s Facebook page.

The deputy arrived and was able to identify the man as Daniel Rosebaum.

According to the post, Rosebaum became “irate” and pushed the deputy. He was then handcuffed and placed in front of the deputy’s cruiser.

While speaking with Rosebaum, the deputy reportedly heard a woman inside a nearby house calling for help.

Upon investigating, the deputy found a woman, identified only as Rosebaum’s girlfriend, lying on a couch.

She had several stab wounds.

With help from other deputies, the investigating officer administered first aid to the woman until an emergency medical squad arrived.

Rosebaum was transported to the Monroe County Jail while the woman was taken to WVU Medicine Reynolds Memorial Hospital for treatment by the Woodsfield Emergency Squad.
