Bellaire baby dies of fentanyl overdose, father charged with manslaughter
BELLAIRE — A local baby died as a result of a drug overdose, Belmont County Chief Deputy James Zusack confirmed Wednesday.
According to published reports, Cameron Jovan Cothran, 38, dropped off his 1-year-old daughter at East Ohio Regional Hospital in Martins Ferry on April 24 and left before returning later that day. Reports indicate Cothran is a Cleveland resident who had been living in Bellaire, raising the child on his own; the mother is incarcerated.
The baby was flown to Children’s Hospital in Pittsburgh but did not survive.
A Belmont County grand jury handed down an indictment against Cothran on Wednesday, charging him with manslaughter. He is lodged at the Belmont County Jail.
