St. Clairsville chamber to hold inaugural Food Truck Friday

ST. CLAIRSVILLE — The St. Clairsville Area Chamber of Commerce is set to host the first of many planned Food Truck Fridays.

The series of weekly events starts at 11 a.m. Friday and ends when the food is sold out.

“This all came about during COVID when food trucks were able to serve food and restaurants were closed,” Wendy Anderson, director of St. Clairsville Area Chamber of Commerce said of the creation of Food Truck Fridays.

She said the chamber has received multiple calls from people who work at the Belmont County Courthouse inquiring about the Food Truck Fridays times and schedule so they can plan their lunch breaks accordingly to be able to participate in the event.

This Friday’s event will have food for sale by The Gringos Tacos which is a taco food truck based in Wheeling. According to The Gringos Tacos, it aims to serve elevated Mexican cuisine. It offers tacos, nachos, street corn, taco in a bag and much more.

The event will take place at 117 E. Main St. in St. Clairsville and is open to people of all ages.

Food Truck Fridays will be happening throughout the entire summer, Anderson said, with the next event being held on May 10 with The Naughty Lobstah Food Truck.

The Naughty Lobstah Food Truck is based in Columbus but travels throughout the entire country. It has gained a bit of a social media following thanks to its unique lobster rolls.

A fan favorite is the Wicked Roll, which is a lobster roll with guacamole salsa, spicy mayonnaise and chili powder.

On May 17, Barnesville native Hudson’s Brick Oven Pizza will offer brick oven pizza and homemade ice cream. The brick oven pizzas have Hudson’s own Ann’s Homemade Pizza Sauce. They also offer many flavors of homemade ice cream.

“We wanted to do something for the community at large,” Anderson said of bringing the variety of food vendors to the city.

Anderson added that anyone interested in participating as a vendor should call the St. Clairsville Area Chamber of Commerce at 740-695-9623 to inform her ahead of time.
