Newly remodeled Shadyside Healthcare and Rehabilitation holds open house
SHADYSIDE — Shadyside Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center recently held an open house to show off the newly renovated facility.
About half of the current building has been updated with new light fixtures, ceilings and flooring with new artwork adding a splash of color along the hallways.
According to Licensed Nursing Home Administrator Scott Fehr, the facility is about 60% remodeled, allowing the residents to have a brighter and cozier recovery. The short-stay rehabilitation rooms have been updated as well.
Next year, a second wave of renovations will be implemented. In the 88-bed facility, 11 of the private rooms for short-term residents have been fully renovated.
Along with the remodel, a new director of nursing was installed along with the nursing department receiving a pay raise. A corporate chef has been brought in to spice up the food and provide more selection. This will enhance the experience for short- and long-term residents, Fehr said.
“We currently offer all three therapies: speech, physical and occupational. It is a very strong part of the building,” Fehr said. “The (staff in the) building has a very high skill level. Patients come in to get rehabilitated, get back on their feet and go home.”
