$105,000 raised for multiple local organizations
CARROLLTON, Ohio — Encino Energy recently held its second annual Encino Energy Vendor Charity Classic and raised $105,000 for multiple local charities.
The two-day event consisted of a golf outing, a clay shoot and an awards ceremony. The idea for the fundraiser came about three years ago when Encino organized a luncheon that raised $30,000 for charity. After seeing the success of the luncheon, organizers went back to the drawing board to brainstorm a way to give back not only to charity but to participating vendors. Last year’s inaugural Encino Energy Vendor Charity Classic was able to raise $80,000.
“At the end of the day, we can’t do what we do without our vendors, so we wanted to show them how much we appreciate them by putting on this event,” Encino community relations representative Zach Kent said. “Personally, as somebody who puts this event on, it’s interesting to see the entire oil and gas industry coming together and raising all of these charitable funds. It’s not just Encino doing this — we have 50-plus vendors coming together supporting multiple causes, and I think that’s pretty commendable by itself.”
Day one of the two-day event kicked off with a clay shoot for top sponsors and ended with a welcome reception. Day two started with a golf outing and ended with an awards ceremony.
“The event was created last year to give thanks to vendors and contractors who work with Encino Energy and are a major part of the Company’s success.” an Encino Energy press release states. “$100,000 in donations was split evenly between five nonprofit organizations, including the Brightside Project, the Youngstown Warren Regional Chamber Foundation, Foundation for Appalachian Ohio, the Cambridge-Guernsey County Community Improvement Corporation (CIC), and the Muskingum Watershed Conservancy Foundation (MWCF). Each nonprofit organization received a donation of $20,000 Each nonprofit organization received a donation of $20,000.”
Donations resulting from the event also included $5,000 to the Ohio Natural Energy Foundation. Sponsors for the two-day event were Evolution Well Services, Patterson UTI, Tetra Technologies and Vallourec.
“This is our second year of sponsoring this event,” said Nick Ruppelt, chief operating officer of Evolution Well Services. “Encino Energy has been a great partner to Evolution, and we really appreciate the opportunity to get involved and make a real impact on the local community in Ohio through the Encino Vendor Charity Classic. Our team members do as much as we can to lend a hand in a variety of community initiatives, so it’s not uncommon to see us participating in events like this.”
For the golf outing on the second day, the teams were paired with a mix of Encino employees and vendors in hopes of increasing networking and relationship building.
“The more relationship-building you do with your counterpart or another person, the stronger those bonds are when you’re working with them and the better your work will be down the road,” Kent added. “It’s building trust and building those relationships. We want our vendors’ values to reflect our values.”
Kent said Encino vets its vendors before working with them to ensure they share the same goals and values.
