Rulli named to House Energy and Commerce Committee

MICHAEL RULLI

WASHINGTON, D.C. — The House Republican Steering Committee on Friday announced the appointment of Congressman Mike Rulli, R-Ohio, to serve on the House Committee on Energy and Commerce for the upcoming 119th Congress.

“I am extremely grateful for the opportunity to join the Energy and Commerce Committee,” said Rulli, who represents Ohio’s 6th District. “Energy extraction is crucial to the economy of the 6th District, and I look forward to working with Chairman (Brett) Guthrie to increase production, lower costs for consumers, and strengthen grid resilience.”

Ohio’s 6th District –which includes Belmont, Harrison, Jefferson, Monroe, Stark, Mahoning, Columbiana, Carroll, Noble and Washington counties — is an energy hub producing 90% of Ohio’s natural gas and generating over 80% of the state’s gas-fired base load electrical power, a release from Rulli’s office states. Located within the Marcellus and Utica “Shale Crescent,” Ohio, along with Pennsylvania and West Virginia, produces two times more natural gas than the entire nation of China and stands poised to produce 50% of the United States’ natural gas by 2040.

In addition to energy policy, the House Energy and Commerce Committee oversees a broad portfolio including telecommunications, food and drug safety, public health policy and interstate and foreign commerce.
