THE COMMUNITY Foundation for the Ohio Valley announced its 2025 Community Impact and Field of Interest Fund grant recipients Tuesday.
The CFOV awarded a combined $99,887 to organizations to support them in addressing key community needs across the Ohio Valley. The grants were made possible by donors and will fund initiatives that focus on substance abuse prevention, youth retention, workforce development and more.
The CFOV said donors have trusted the foundation to address evolving community needs that recipients are working toward and will provide the $99,887 to support programs and services.
The grants are made possible through CFOV’s unrestricted funds that allow for responsive and flexible grantmaking based on local needs, the CFOV said.
The grants are also focused on key issues of next-generation leadership and mentoring and assistance for ALICE — Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed households.
Donors who are passionate about a particular cause or geographic area establish the Field of Interest Funds, and those grants allow the CFOV to distribute funding “in a way that aligns with the donor’s intent while remaining responsive to community needs.”
A total of 23 programs and organizations received grants. For example, the Margaret Dankworth Memorial Fund contributed $3,111 to the Barnesville State Theater restoration project. The Community Impact fund made a grant to Belmont College for $5,000; the Kathryn B. Snively Fund to the Cumberland Trail Fire DIstrict CARES program for $2,004; the Community Impact Fund and Kennet Dennis Fund donated to Foster Hope Ohio Valley for in the amount of $4,500; the Community Impact Fund and Children’s Museum Endowment Fund made an award to SMART – Center for $5,490; and the Community Impact Fund awarded Urban Mission Ministries Inc. $7,500.

“We are honored to support these incredible organizations that are meeting critical needs across the Ohio Valley,” she said. “The Community Impact and Field of Interest grants reflect generosity of donors who believe in the power of philanthropy to create positive change. These funds enable nonprofits to continue their vital work, and we look forward to seeing the impact they will make.”
