MORRISTOWN -- Authorities located and arrested a man Monday morning who had been reported missing during the weekend.
Ohio State Highway Patrol Lt. Brian McFarland said Adam Shockling of Morristown was reported missing at about 6 p.m. Sunday. Family members who reported him missing were concerned that he might have a gun and could harm himself.
Shockling's truck -- a white Chevrolet Silverado displaying a Washington state license plate -- was located alongside a pond just north of U.S. 40 at the foot of Lady Bend Hill, inside the Egypt Valley Wildlife Area. Because the vehicle was found on state-owned property, McFarland said, the Ohio Department of Natural Resources and Ohio State Highway Patrol provided resources and personnel to assist with the search for Shockling, which was headed up by the Belmont County Sheriff's Department.
McFarland said the patrol provided an airplane with infrared technology to help in the search of the ground below. Authorities searched through the evening and resumed their efforts Monday morning.
That is when Shockling was found inside an abandoned building owned by an oil and gas producer. McFarland said Shockling allegedly claimed he worked for the company but did not. As a result, he was arrested and charged with inducing panic and breaking and entering.
Shockling, 26, was listed on the Belmont County Jail inmate roster on Tuesday.He is being held without bond.
Officials with the Belmont County Sheriff's Department declined to release any information on the case late Monday.
