Tecnocap expanding into Belmont County
BELLAIRE — An international company that already has a significant presence in the Ohio Valley is going to grow its footprint in the area.
Tecnocap, an Italy-based company that specializes in metal closures for glass jars and plastic containers, will build a new facility in Bellaire to join its manufacturing facility already established in Glen Dale in Marshall County, West Virginia. Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine announced the move as one of 10 projects recently approved by the Ohio Tax Credit Authority.
Those 10 projects, DeWine’s office said, should create 1,063 jobs statewide, result in more than $74 million in new payroll and spur more than $1 billion in investments across Ohio.
For Tecnocap’s part, the proposed Bellaire facility expects to create 29 full-time-equivalent positions, generating more than $1.3 million in new annual payroll as a result of the company’s new location. The proposed project includes purchasing and renovating a vacant building. The Ohio TCA approved a 1.046%, seven-year Job Creation Tax Credit for the project.
The Job Creation Tax Credit is a performance-based credit. The actual value of the credits are based on the jobs that are ultimately created and the new payroll that’s generated, which will be subject to state verification.
Tecnocap has operated in Glen Dale for more than 15 years and employs around 200 people. There, the company makes the closures, what the average person would call lids, under many well-known brand names including Classico, Raos, Village Candle, Anchor Hocking, Smuckers, Barilla, Pfizer, Procter & Gamble and more. It also makes lids for Figaretti’s spaghetti sauce.
Tecnocap also has a manufacturing facility in Warren, Ohio.
