Bridgeport-area man in custody after allegedly firing shot during domestic dispute
BRIDGEPORT – A man is lodged at the Belmont County Jail on Monday after he allegedly fired a gunshot during a domestic dispute on Sunday.
Joseph Charles Berry was arrested at his home on National Road in the Bridgeport area on Sunday.
Belmont County Sheriff James Zusack said deputies arrived at Berry’s home at 6:45 p.m. in response to a report of an alleged domestic violence situation with shots fired. The sheriff declined to provide a specific address where the incident occurred. He added that the Bridgeport Police Department was also on scene to provide backup.
Bridgeport Police Chief John Bumba added that Berry was intoxicated during the exchange, which is why Berry is facing one charge of using a weapon while intoxicated. He is also charged with two counts of domestic violence, two counts of felonious assault and one count of resisting arrest.
He was being held without bail on Monday.
