Monroe Central High School boys basketball team honored at Ohio Statehouse

Photo Provided The Monroe Central basketball team were honored at the Ohio Statehouse by State Senator Brian Chavez on Wednesday.

COLUMBUS–State Senator Brian Chavez (R-Marietta) recognized the Monroe Central High School Boys Basketball Team for winning the OHSAA Division VI State Championship.

“This is a remarkable group of student-athletes,” said Senator Chavez. “I’ve seen firsthand that the community is incredibly proud, and I enthusiastically join them in celebrating this fantastic accomplishment. I look forward to watching their future accomplishments on and off the court.”

The Seminoles beat Maria Stein Marion Local High School in a 43-35 victory on March 22nd, becoming the first Ohio team in the Ohio Valley conference to win a title since 1943. The team ended their championship season with a 26-3 record.
