Ohio voters OK Issue 2
COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — Ohioans have voted to authorize the issuance of $2.5 billion in general obligation bonds over the next 10 years to pay for roads, bridges and other needed infrastructure across the state. Passage of Issue 2 on Tuesday represents a renewal of the state’s capital improvement program, which is administered by the Ohio Public Works Commission. The program relies on existing state revenues and doesn’t raise taxes. A large coalition of business, labor and civic organizations supported the measure. It allows for up to $250 million in bonds to be issued annually over the next decade, creating an estimated 35,000 construction jobs.
