Pedestrian struck, killed on I-70 near Bridgeport

According to preliminary investigations by the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the pedestrian struck and killed early Sunday morning on Interstate 70 near Bridgeport might have acted intentionally.

OSHP Lt. Brian Hawkins said that 3:26 a.m. Sunday, troopers were dispatched to I-70 near mile marker 224 in Bridgeport. A witness had said a pedestrian, a 70-year-old Bridgeport man, had walked onto the interstate and was struck by a commercial truck. Troopers found the pedestrian dead at the scene.

I-70 West was closed for about four hours as troopers conducted their investigation.

No one has been cited for the incident, Hawkins said, and OSHP investigators believe it might have been an intentional act on the part of the pedestrian. OSHP is continuing to investigate, Hawkins said.
