East Ohio Regional Hospital purchased with plans to reopen this fall

MARTINS FERRY — The medical campus of East Ohio Regional Hospital has been acquired by 360 Healthcare Inc., and company president Harold Ramsey has launched efforts that will reopen the facility under the same name at some point in the fall.

A press release announcing that the facility had been acquired was issued Monday morning. The hospital’s Facebook page also announced the news.

Belmont County Treasurer Katherine Kelich confirmed that a transaction has taken place and said sh has been in contact with Ramsey regarding the delinquent property taxes for the site.

According to the release, Ramsey’s initial goals include the restoration of power for the campus, a complete cleansing of the hospital, and continued communication with both Martins Ferry and Belmont County officials.

“East Ohio is on a clear, controlled path for a professional restart, and we’ve established the direction by working with federal representatives with the Centers of Medicare and Medicaid, and with several talented professionals in Columbus, Ohio,” said Ramsey, managing partner of Rising River Capital LLC with 20 years of experience with worldwide finance and investment markets. “We are working toward site readiness and the hospital’s formal accreditation.”

The employed physician group will open offices soon, and in the fall, the facility will resume general hospital operations. Hiring providers and key staff members is underway, and a jobs event will be scheduled in the near future.

More than 400 healthcare professionals and staff members lost their employment when EORH was shuttered in late March. Ramsay is hopeful the reopening will attract many of those individuals back to Martins Ferry’s medical facility.

“We want to continue the long tradition of providing quality healthcare to the people of Martins Ferry, and to the people here in the Upper Ohio Valley, and we want to do that with the healthcare professionals in the region,” Ramsay said. “There are a lot of steps we have to take in order to accomplish that goal, but we’re going to get there sooner than later.”
