Getting on the wagon train

MORRISTOWN — The National Road Wagon Train brought yet another glimpse of the past to the local area over the weekend.

The folks who made up the wagon train camped for the weekend at Lynn Hunkler Memorial Park in Morristown. On Saturday, the train made its way down U.S. 40 to Cumberland Pointe Care Center, where participants were served lunch and residents were able to admire the horses. Some were even moved to tears by the horses’ beauty.

On Sunday, the wagon train made a loop through Barkcamp State Park, and those involved were served lunch sponsored by W. Tollgate. From there, the train made a pass by Feisley’s Tree Farm and finished up the route down National Road.

“I believe I can speak on behalf of the wagon train group to say that they are grateful for the community’s support and appreciation of their annual event,” W. Tollgate owner Taylore Frasnelly said. “They are such a kind group of folks, and I believe it’s important that we recognize that this event may soon be as historic as the history they themselves are honoring, so it’s very special to be involved in their efforts to display pioneer travel.”
