Bell: Full steam ahead for the Ohio Valley Mall

ST. CLAIRSVILLE — While the names have not yet been announced, the former Sears location at the Ohio Valley Mall will soon have new tenants.
Cafaro Co. director of communications Joe Bell said it was too early to confirm what businesses will be opening up shop at the former Sears, but the mall does have an agreement with a couple different businesses to fill the space.
The legalities of the contracts have so far kept the mall from revealing the businesses’ names.
“There are some contingencies attached to the contracts that we have with our new tenants. And so we’re consequently not able to use the name of those tenants just yet,” Bell said. “We hope to be able to formally announce that sometime in the coming months.”
He believes that residents will be very excited to hear what’s going to be at the location.
Locals have posted on social media speculating that the new location will only have a separate entrance that doesn’t lead to the mall, similar to the setup of Five Below. Bell could not confirm or deny if the new stores will be attached to the mall or not, saying it was too early in the design planning to know.
In addition to the new businesses coming to the former Sears, Bell said the mall is in negotiations with a store to go into another location inside of the mall. He didn’t divulge the new store’s location, saying it was still up in the air.
Bell was able to confirm that Golden Ticket Cinemas, which will take the place of AMC Theatres, plans to open before the holiday season.
“It’s an ambitious goal, but they’re going to try for it,” Bell said.
The new theater will feature luxury recliners, an extensive food and beverage menu, deliver-to-seat service, and upgraded visuals and sound.
Bell previously said that he’s excited for Golden Ticket Cinemas to fill the gap that was made when AMC exited the mall the past September.
