Former EMA assistant director will serve 7 months in jail

MARTINS FERRY — A former Belmont County Emergency Management Agency assistant director will spend seven months in jail after being sentenced in a Virginia court on a charge of proposed sex act by communication system with a minor under age 15.
Loudoun County Circuit Court Judge James Plowman sentenced Glenn Trudo, 60, to three years imprisonment on Tuesday, but suspended two years and five months of that sentence.
Trudo originally was arrested on two counts of soliciting a minor, but pleaded to a lesser charge in Virginia.
This past February, he was charged in Belmont County with being a fugitive from justice and was listed on the jail roster as being held without bond.
Belmont County Prosecutor Kevin Flanagan previously explained that the charge of “fugitive from justice” didn’t stem from any effort to escape or elude law enforcement; instead, it resulted from the fact that the original warrant for Trudo’s arrest was issued by another jurisdiction.
Once Trudo was arrested, the Belmont County Board of Commissioners held an emergency board meeting to pass a motion placing Trudo on unpaid administrative leave effective immediately, pursuant to Ohio Revised Code Section 124.388.
Shortly after the board suspended Trudo, he was fired from his position of EMA assistant director.
Belmont County Commissioner J.P. Dutton said that Trudo was completely separated from the county since his arrest.
The Virginia State Police, Northern Virginia/DC Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, and U.S. Secret Service were assisted by the Belmont County Sheriff’s Office in detaining and transferring Trudo back to Loudoun County this past February.
