Warrant issued for arrest of rape suspect
ST. CLAIRSVILLE — Belmont County Sheriff James Zusack announced Friday that an arrest warrant was issued for Tyler Wayne Barker, who is suspected of the rape of a juvenile.
According to a news release from Zusack, Barker is a 32-year-old caucasian man. He is 6 feet, 2 inches tall and weighs about 195-200 pounds. He is described as having brown hair and blue eyes.
“The individual’s last known whereabouts were in the vicinity of Shadyside and Bellaire,” the release states.
Belmont County Eastern Division Court issued the arrest warrant. Barker is wanted on a felony charge of rape involving a juvenile victim.
The warrant stems from an investigation by the sheriff’s office regarding a sex offense that allegedly occurred in Pultney Township. It is an ongoing and active investigation.
Zusack thanked Harmony House Child Advocacy Center, Belmont County Children Services and the Belmont County Prosecutor’s Office for their assistance in the case.
The sheriff’s office requests the public’s help in locating Barker. Anyone with information regarding his whereabouts is asked to contact the sheriff’s office at 740-695-7933 or their local police department.
