ST. CLAIRSVILLE — A bomb threat written on the wall of a girls’ bathroom at St. Clairsville High/Middle School led to a mass evacuation Tuesday.

Superintendent Walter Skaggs said he was made aware of the threat and investigated it. Once his staff discovered that it was in fact a bomb threat, a mass evacuation to the football stadium was conducted.

After everyone was safely evacuated to the stadium, the students were dismissed from there.

Skaggs said that local law enforcement swept the buildings with bomb-sniffing dogs and found no bomb.

“We definitely don’t take it lightly. As soon as we were notified, we implemented the drills that we practice,” Skaggs said. “Obviously, we’re going to investigate and hopefully we find out who did it and will prosecute them to the fullest.”
