As work to rehabilitate the Blaine Hill Bridge progresses, the contractor is continuing major demolition work on the bridge by removing the existing box beams and bridge deck, according to Ohio Department of Transportation District 11 spokeswoman Lauren Borrell. As of late August, over 20% of the box beams had been removed. There are 400 total box beams to be removed from the bridge. This work will continue over the next several weeks. The bridge is expected to reopen during the summer of 2026 with an overall completion date of 2025. Here, the surface of the bridge can be seen while looking downhill from west to east along U.S. 40.
