Interstate 470 near the Veteran’s Memorial Bridge will get tighter than usual for a few weeks starting Wednesday, Oct. 29.
The West Virginia Department of Highways announced Thursday that I-470 will be reduced to one lane both east and west for 24 hours a day from 6 p.m. Oct. 29 to 6 p.m. Nov. 12 for bridge maintenance.
The closure will affect the interstate from milepost 1.5 in West Virginia to milepost 6.0 in Ohio. The Exit 2 westbound on-ramp from Bethlehem also will be closed for that duration.
Traffic directors and message boards will be used to guide traffic, and motorists will be detoured to Exit 5. All motorists who use that stretch of I-470 are advised to slow down and follow the signs.
Inclement weather or unforeseen circumstances could change the project schedule.
