DUI Checkpoint Set for Friday in Belmont County
A DUI checkpoint is set on Friday in Belmont County, the Ohio State Highway Patrol has noted. An exact time and location will be announced Friday morning, according to a release from Post 7 in St. Clairsville.
The highway patrol notes there were 1,150 fatal crashes in Ohio last year, with 672 of those involving alcohol.
“State troopers make an average of 15,000 arrests each year in an attempt to combat these dangerous drivers,” said Lieutenant Brian Hawkins, St. Clairsville post commander. “OVI checkpoints are designed to not only deter impaired driving but proactively remove these dangerous drivers from our roadways.”
