MARTINS FERRY – A Level 3 snow emergency has been declared for roadways in Belmont and Jefferson counties.

Dave Ivan, director of the Belmont County Emergency Management Agency, said at about noon the Belmont County Sheriff’s Department declared a Level 3 emergency for the county’s roads. Level 3 means no one should be driving, with the exception of emergency personnel, and those with personal emergencies. People should also contact their employers about the emergency level. Motorists found driving on any roadways are subject to arrest, he added.

He said there were no vehicle accidents to report.

“I think people heeded the warning for this one,” he added.

The Monroe County Sheriff’s Department declared a Level 2 snow emergency at about 11 a.m. today.
