Sheriff: No foul play in body found in Lansing Creek
ST. CLAIRSVILLE — No foul play is suspected in the discovery of a body Tuesday in a creek in the Lansing area, Belmont County Sheriff James Zusack said Wednesday.
Authorities were called at around 1 p.m. Tuesday after a resident had found the body of Jeremy Garrett, 48, of Lansing, in the creek, Zusack said.
Sheriff’s deputies called the Belmont County coroner to the scene, who conducted a preliminary blood screen test on Garrett.
Zusack said the tests showed he had numerous drugs in his system.
Investigation will continue into Garrett’s death, Zusack said, but foul play is not being considered as a cause.
Zusack wanted to dispel any rumors that had been circulating since Garrett’s body was found Tuesday.
