Bellaire track coach, teacher arrested on child obscenity charges

BELLAIRE – Longtime Bellaire track coach and teacher Shawn Valloric was arrested Thursday on child obscenity charges.

Belmont County Sheriff James Zusack said that his criminal investigation unit received information on Thursday afternoon from the Ohio Internet Crimes Against Children that Valloric was in possession of child sexual abuse materials.

Within less than eight hours his unit investigated, gathered evidence, and took Valloric into custody.

Valloric was booked into the Belmont County Jail on ten counts of pandering obscenity involving minors, a second-degree felony that involves producing, publishing, or possessing obscene material depicting minors.

Valloric is currently in Belmont County Jail awaiting arraignment.

If convicted, he could face up to eight years in prison and $15,000 in fines on each charge. A conviction also carries with it a mandatory tier II sex offender registration.
