Jordan to speak to local Republicans

WINTERSVILLE — U.S. Rep. Jim Jordan will be the keynote speaker at this year’s Jefferson County Republican Party Lincoln Day Dinner.
Scheduled for Thursday at the St. Florian Event Center, the annual event will bring together local Republicans, community leaders and supporters, party officials said.
Jordan is a Republican who has represented Ohio’s 4th Congressional District since 2007 and who lives in the Urbana area in West Central Ohio.
According to his official biography, Jordan is a fiscal conservative who believes that families, rather than the government, know best how to make decisions with their money. He has served on numerous committees and helped to form the House Freedom Caucus, serving as its first chairman.
While in high school, he was a four-time state champion wrestler, finishing his career with a record of 150-1.
He earned his bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Wisconsin, a master’s degree in education from Ohio State University and his law degree from Capital University.
State House Speaker Matt Huffman, R-Lima, will be a special guest at the dinner. Other local, state and federal elected officials are expected to attend.
Tickets for the event are no longer available. Doors are scheduled to open at 5:30 p.m., with dinner being served at 6:15 p.m. The program will follow.
