BRIDGEPORT – Sunnyside marijuana dispensary opened its doors on Friday morning.
Located at 435 Main St. Sunnyside is operated by Cresco Labs.
The new business will offer cannabis products for both medical and recreational use.
Cresco Labs district manager for Ohio Benjamin Keaton said that he is excited to serve the village.
Friday’s opening marks Cresco Labs 73rd dispensary in the country and seventh in Ohio/
Depending on the area in Ohio, it can be really oversaturated with dispensaries,” he said. “A lot of communities like this don’t really have the same type of access to dispensaries. So, for us, it’s about serving areas where shoppers or patients or whoever, don’t have as far of a commute to get to a store like this. It was really important for us to be able to come to Bridgeport.”
The dispensary offers a variety of different medical and adult use products.
Keaton said the only difference between medical and recreational products is the way the items are taxed.
“We offer a full line of both medical and adult use products. The products themselves are generally the same. The difference is going to be the taxes that you pay. So the Medical Shopper, as long as they have a valid medical card in Ohio, they’re able to purchase with a discounted tax, versus the adult use shopper has to pay a different tax,” Keaton said. “We have flower, vape cartridges, edibles, tinctures, topicals, gummies, pretty much anything that you could think of, we carry.”
Sunnyside is open daily 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Keaton said that Cresco Labs puts focus on serving underserved communities.
Bridgeport mayor Norma Teasdale said that she couldn’t be happier that the new business decided to set up shop in the village.
“I’m really pleased with the fact that Sunnyside has picked our village to open, and I know it’s a secure and safe dispensary,” Teasdale said. “We’re just happy to have a new business and a good business here.”
The village is a unique location due to it being the meeting point of State Route 7, U.S. 40, and Interstate 70 all meet. It is also right on the Ohio and West Virginia border, which will serve West Virginia residents where recreational marijuana is illegal.
The new location marks the second dispensary in Belmont County but the first for Cresco Labs.
Customers who are 21 and older can either order inside of the store or online at www.sunnyside.shop.
Despite the former bank location that Sunnyside now calls home had a drive thru the dispensary will not have one.
