Free summer meals for children available in Belmont County starting in June
Belmont County children will once again be able to get nutritious meals for free throughout the summer, as the Community Action Commission of Belmont County is once again participating in the United States Department of Agriculture’s Summer Food Service Program.
The program, which is found in numerous counties around the Ohio Valley, provides free meals in the summer months. In Belmont County, the program will last from Monday, June 8, to Thursday, Aug. 6, where lunch will be served Monday through Thursday from noon until 1 p.m.
Meals will be provided at the St. Myer Learning Center at 1804 North 9th Street in Martins Ferry.
Meals will be provided to all children without charge and are the same for all children regardless of race, color, national origin, sex (including gender identity and sexual orientation), age or disability, according to the CAC of Belmont County. There will be no discrimination during the course of the meal service.
In accordance with Federal civil rights law and USDA civil rights regulations and policies, the USDA, its Agencies, offices, and employees, and institutions participating in or administering USDA programs are prohibited from discriminating based on race, color, national origin, religion, sex, disability, age, marital status, family/parental status, income derived from a public assistance program, political beliefs, or reprisal or retaliation for prior civil rights activity, in any program or activity conducted or funded by USDA (not all bases apply to all programs). Remedies and complaint filing deadlines vary by program or incident.
