ST. CLAIRSVILLE — Nicholaus Lee Goins, 25, of Brookside appeared Thursday morning before Belmont County Eastern Division Court Judge David Trouten.
Goins was recently charged with seven counts of pandering obscenity involving a minor.
On Thursday, he waived the reading of the complaint.
Trouten asked Goins if he had spoken with his attorney, public defender Cole Antolak, and if he understood what he would be waiving.
“Mr. Goins, you’ve had a chance to talk with your attorney, and he’s explained to you what a waiver means and the various rights that you have and might be waiving by doing that. Is that how you wish to proceed?” Trouten said.
Goins confirmed that he had spoken to Antolak and agreed to waive his right.
Trouten then told Goins he would have to sign the necessary forms acknowledging that he is waiving his right.
“I’ll accept the waivers. This man will be bound over to the Court of Common Pleas and the grand jury for further proceedings,” Trouten said.
Goins’ bail was set at $30,000.
“If you do post bond, you are to not have any contact with any minors by any means, whether personal telecommunications, computer, or anything. Do you understand?” Trouten said.
Goins replied, yes.
