Meyer wins Belmont County Auditors race
ST. CLAIRSVILLE — Josh Meyer will return to work next year at the Belmont County Courthouse, but this time as county auditor.
Meyer, a former county commissioner, won the Republican nomination for auditor after receiving the most votes in Tuesday’s primary election. Unofficial Election Night totals show him receiving 3,688 votes, besting incumbent County Auditor Cindi L. Henry, who captured 3,177. A third candidate in the race, Nick Ferrelli of Shadyside, received 901 of the ballots cast.
No Democrats filed in the race, and Meyer will run unopposed in the November general election.
He did not immediately return requests for comment late Tuesday night.
Meyer previously served two terms as a Belmont County commissioner and one term as a Bellaire Village Council member.
He is a 1993 graduate of the former Ebenezer Baptist Christian School in Bethesda. After high school, he attended Ohio University Eastern for one year before earning a radiology certification from the Ohio Valley Medical Center School of Radiology.
He performed X-rays and CAT scans at East Ohio Regional Hospital for approximately 15 years and is currently an employee of Erb Electric in Bridgeport.
He also has served as chairman of the Belmont County Republican Party and as a member of the Bellaire Public Library board.
The Belmont County Auditor’s Office handles about 70,000 parcels of property in the county.
