MARTINS FERRY POLICE

Thursday

7:44 a.m. – Officers responded to Carlisle St. near N. Zane Hwy to remove debris from the roadway.

9:36 a.m. – Officers encountered a male on a bicycle on the 100 Block of Aetna St. A verbal warning was issued for a stop sign violation.

9:43 a.m. – Officers responded to the 600 Block of Cemetery Rd. for a parking complaint. The vehicle was chalked, and officers cleared the scene.

10:06 a.m. – Officers responded to the 400 Block of N. 1st St. regarding a suspicious male. The male stated he was trying to make his way to Wheeling but did not want a ride. He consented to a search, which yielded no findings.

11:50 a.m. – Officers responded to Monroe St. near Broadway for a report of three dogs running at large. The dogs were returned to their owner, and a written citation was issued for dogs running at large (three counts).

12:01 p.m. – Officers assisted the School Resource Officer (SRO) with an incident at the school.

1:23 p.m. – Officers assisted the SRO again with another incident at the school.

3:46 p.m. – Officers responded to a disabled vehicle on State Route 7 near Aetna. The registered owner contacted a towing company. Officers cleared the scene.

4:54 p.m. – A traffic stop was initiated on State Route 7 near Aetna St. The driver and passenger, both males, were identified. Officers received consent to search the vehicle, where narcotics were located. Naylor’s Towing was contacted. A search of both males revealed additional narcotics, and both were placed into custody and transported to Belmont County Jail. A written citation was issued to the driver for expired registration, and a verbal warning was given for a marked lanes violation.

7:56 p.m. – Martins Ferry PD assisted Martins Ferry EMS with a medical call on the 500 Block of S. 3rd St. The patient, a male with an active warrant through Belmont County, was cleared by EMS, placed into custody, and transported to Belmont County Jail. Officers cleared the scene.

11:34 p.m. – A male came to the station to speak with an officer regarding a previous incident.

BELMONT COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE

Thursday

6:58 p.m. – A caller from Boscov’s at the Ohio Valley Mall in St. Clairsville reported a shoplifter. A middle-aged female stole a pair of sunglasses. The female got into a Toyota Camry with West Virginia plates. A deputy obtained information for a report, including the license plate number and the name of the suspect.

5:29 p.m. – Deputies responded to an address in St. Clairsville for a report about a juvenile who was out of control and committing domestic violence toward grandparents. The juvenile was detained and transported to the Sargus Juvenile Detention Center.

4:40 p.m. – Units responded to Ulta at the Ohio Valley Mall in St. Clairsville for a report of a shoplifter. The female was read her rights and admitted to theft. A deputy found items from Marshall’s in the bag. No charges were pressed, and the suspect was not taken to jail.

3:19 p.m. – A deputy responded to an address on National Road in Belmont for a report of a civil protection order violation.

2:38 p.m. – A deputy spoke with a complainant regarding an alleged bullying incident at Bridgeport Schools on Industrial Drive in Bridgeport. Officers were in contact with the middle school principal regarding the matter.

2:25 p.m. – A complainant from an address on Town Hill Road in Jacobsburg came to the station to report trespassers on his property messing with his vehicles. The complainant requested extra patrols.

1:08 p.m. – Officers responded to a location on Ferry Landing Road in Shadyside for a report of a male being struck by debris from a neighbor’s grass cutting. The complainant denied need for emergency medical service but wanted information listed in a report.

12:42 p.m. – A deputy on a special detail at Bridgeport Schools on Industrial Drive in Bridgeport, along with a school nurse, took a student home to an address on Minellen Drive.

5:53 a.m. – A caller from an address on National Road in Bridgeport reported a male in cardiac arrest from a narcotics overdose. Officers and police units responded. At 6:05 a.m., the male was conscious and breathing. One can of Narcan was administered.
