BELLAIRE — Detectives with the Belmont County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Unit arrested James L. White, 25, of Bellaire on multiple felony charges following an extensive investigation into allegations of sexual offenses involving minors Wednesday.

The investigation began after detectives received information regarding inappropriate communications and conduct involving juvenile victims.

During the course of the investigation, detectives conducted multiple interviews, reviewed victim disclosures, obtained and executed search warrants and performed forensic examinations of digital evidence. Investigators also reviewed online communications and electronic records obtained as part of the investigation.

As a result of the investigation, White was charged with rape, a first-degree felony; gross sexual imposition, a fifth-degree felony; importuning, a third-degree felony; two counts of pandering obscenities involving a minor, second-degree felonies; and importuning, a fifth-degree felony.

An arrest warrant was served June 24 at 3483 Franklin St. in Bellaire. The Bellaire Police Department assisted with the execution of the arrest warrant, and the Martins Ferry Police Department assisted throughout the investigation.

“The protection of children remains one of the highest priorities of the Belmont County Sheriff’s Office. We remain committed to thoroughly investigating these type offenses and holding offenders accountable,” Sheriff James Zusack said.
