Not guilty plea entered in child death-related case
ST. CLAIRSVILLE — Kaitlyn Kuhn pleaded not guilty to one count of endangering children.
She was arraigned in Belmont County Common Pleas Court by Judge Chris Berhalter on Thursday morning.
Kuhn was represented by Belmont County Public Defender Aaron Miller.
Her charge stems from the death of a child while in Kuhn’s care and custody.
She waived a formal reading of the indictment and recitation of her rights, then entered a not guilty plea.
Berhalter granted Miller’s motion for Kuhn’s recognizance bond.
Her recognizance bond stipulates she is to have no contact with felons or illegal drug users, is ordered to submit to random drug and alcohol testing and is subject to supervision by Court of Common Pleas Chief Supervision Officer Edward Gorence.
She also must abide by a daily residential curfew from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.
Kuhn is also not allowed to consume any alcoholic beverages or any drug not prescribed by her personal physician.
Berhalter then set a plea agreement hearing for Aug. 24 at 9 a.m. A jury trial is set for Sept. 22 at 8:30 a.m.
He then explained the charges and the maximum possible penalty, which is up to three years in prison.
