Betty Zane Days kicks off Wednesday in Martins Ferry

MARTINS FERRY -- Music, food, rides and other fun are on tap starting Wednesday through Saturday, with the return of the annual Betty Zane Days Festival, presented by the Martins Ferry Volunteer Fire Department and sponsored by Unified Bank.
The four-day event will once again bring residents and visitors together for a lineup of family-friendly entertainment, attractions, live music, local food, and craft vendors. Festival attractions will be provided nightly by Movin & Groovin Productions.
The festival will take place Wednesday and Thursday from 5-10 p.m., Friday from 5-11 p.m., and Saturday from 11 a.m.-5 p.m. and 6-11 p.m.
The festivities will begin on Wednesday with the annual Betty Zane Days 5K Run & Walk, benefiting the Martins Ferry cross country team. Registration remains open, and participants of all ages are encouraged to take part.
Each evening will feature live musical entertainment sponsored by local businesses and organizations. Wednesday features On the Rocks sponsored by Epic Restoration. Thursday brings the Still Kickin’ Band sponsored by Zontini’s Pizza. The House Party with Johnny O sponsored by ACNR, Inc. and Ohio County Coal Resources, Inc. will be held Friday. Saturday will feature Bedrock, sponsored by Convenient Food Mart.
More than a dozen food and craft vendors are signed up to participate.
"The Betty Zane Days Festival has become a cherished tradition that brings our community together while supporting the Martins Ferry Volunteer Fire Department," Martins Ferry VFD officials said. "We are grateful to Unified Bank for their annual title sponsorship, our nightly entertainment sponsors listed above, vendors, volunteers, and everyone who helps make this event possible each year. There are many other local businesses and individuals who make donations and support the event, as well, and we cannot forget to recognize them."
The Martins Ferry American Legion Post 38 will be sponsor admission fees from noon-4 p.m. for those ages 16 and younger.
"The American Legion has been doing this for several years now. Their generosity to give back to the community and allow the kids to come and participate for free is outstanding. We cannot thank them enough,” the VFD stated.
