ST. CLAIRSVILLE -- A juvenile male from the Dayton area was killed Saturday in a motorcycle crash on County Road 214 near County Road 30, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
Troopers said the teen was traveling west on County Road 214 on a Kawasaki ZX6R when he failed to negotiate a left-hand curve. The motorcycle struck a guardrail before colliding with a tree.
The rider sustained fatal injuries in the crash and was pronounced dead.
Belmont County Coroner Amanda Fisher said the victim’s identity will not be released because he was under the age of 18.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol said the driver was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
The Neffs Volunteer Fire Department, Belmont County EMS and the Belmont County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene and assisted troopers. T and K Towing removed the motorcycle from the crash site.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
