Early morning fire on Weegee Road calls for various departments on scene

SHADYSIDE -- A house fire on Weegee Road brought several area fire departments to the scene early Thursday morning.

OR&W Fire District Fire Chief R.C. Fellows said the house was a single-family home that had seven cats inside.

He added that no residents were hurt, but one of the seven cats had to be taken to an animal hospital in Washington, Pennsylvania, and another cat remains unaccounted for.

The Bellaire Volunteer Fire Department, Neffs Volunteer Fire Department and Moundsville Volunteer Fire Department were on scene to assist OR&W.

Fellows said his department received the call at 7 a.m. and it took roughly two and a half hours to completely extinguish the fire.

He added that the cause of the fire is unknown and that the house may be salvageable, but everything inside the home was lost.
